Nance Leonhardt brings compassion, caring, and creativity to her work with students. An out-of-the box thinker, Nance earned a bachelor’s degree from The Evergreen State College, with concentrations in fine arts, media studies, and art history.  After an early career working in television production, arts administration, and serving as a guest artist in schools in Chicago, L.A., and Seattle, she earned her graduate degree in teaching from Seattle University.  She taught high-school film and photography for 20 years at public and independent schools in Seattle and Portland. A passion for social justice, educational equity, and building inclusive school culture led her to pursue a second master’s degree in mental health counseling through Lewis & Clark. Her graduate work included focus on support for neurodiverse learners. She interned with Oregon Health and Sciences University’s ADHD Research Lab and helped develop the Gaming and Technology in Excess (GATE) community-based clinic to diagnose and treat issues linked to screen addiction. Prior to joining DTS, Nance supported neurodiverse students as a counselor and professional development specialist at The Academy for Precision Learning in Seattle. Nance lives on a farm with her family on Vashon Island and enjoys creative pursuits in film and photography, including producing music videos for independent artists.
