Humanities teacher Mari O'Meara speaks with the senior class during our three-week intensive courses.

Mari O’Meara shares and promotes a love and passion for learning with her students—learning can take place anytime, anywhere, from anyone. Born in India and raised in Minnesota, Mari has almost two decades of experience teaching and creating diverse curriculum, including: English (literature and composition); philosophy; psychology; multicultural literature; film studies; teacher education; social justice; educational technology integration; and journalism at the high school and community college levels. Mari began her post-secondary education studying broadcast journalism and political science while on an athletic scholarship at Drake University, in Des Moines, Iowa. After changing her major multiple times, she received her undergraduate degrees in English and secondary education from the University of St. Thomas and earned her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction at the University of St. Mary’s. She has fostered her love for the arts through her work with the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C., and Park Square Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her global experiences with education have been furthered with the opportunity to participate in the Fulbright Teaching program in India and leading domestic and international trips for students.
