College Counselor Christopher Obenchain discusses with a student about the senior capstone project.

Christopher Obenchain draws on more than two decades of experience as a college counselor in supporting students and families as they navigate post-secondary pathways.  Christopher was born in rural southwestern Virginia and grew up in a town improbably named Troutville. Trained as a performer at the College of William & Mary, he has appeared on stage and screen in the U.S., Japan, and the former U.S.S.R.  Christopher started his teaching career with middle school English as a foreign language before earning his M.Ed. at Virginia Commonwealth University and becoming a licensed school counselor. Since then, he has counseled students who have studied in more than a dozen countries and found success in fields ranging from professional surfing to politics.
